This is a must if you don’t have something to sit your dumbells on. It is very sturdy and has either roller wheels or stationary feet you can easily install. It really is quality construction and I am glad that I have it.

I would have given it 5 stars…but the instructions on how to assemble it are brutal. It won’t take a rocket scientist to do it, but it will take a little figuring out (common sense) to know how to do a couple of things like attaching the straps to the base of the dumbell platform.

Be on the lookout for sales on this item. I ordered the 552 dumbells and the stand came with it free. I bought them through Amazon.com.

Once you get this stand together, it’s great–looks good and is the perfect height for the 552 SelectTechs.

But boy, is it a pain to put together! The included allen wrench and hex wrenches are very cheap and make it difficult to put any serious torque on the screws. And yes, some of the holes were drilled just a little bit off-center, so it takes some muscle to tighten them. I busted my knuckles a few times, but got a great workout before I had a chance to use the dumbbells.

In the past few weeks I have assembled two Rowing Machines and the Bowflex 5.1 Bench and the instructions for this product are no better, no worse than any other instructions I’ve viewed recently. In fact, I thought putting the stand together was pretty self-explanatory even without the instructions. I assembled the stand in a little over an hour with a few quick glances at the instruction book because I HATE reading instructions. It did take a little muscle to tighten the screws and bolts, but then, that is why I wanted the Dumbbell Set in the first place. That being said, I think it’s a great product, well made and sturdy. I have to admit after reading the other reviews I was put off at the thought of having to struggle to put another piece of equiptment together, but, it was really a breeze! The bench is also an excellent product too.

I received this stand and like another reviewer, had some difficulty with the installation. The instructions are brief and the exploded diagram is not clearly marked or numbered. Many of the screws are 2.75 inches, but four of them are only 2.5 inches – make sure when you install, that you put the correct ones where they belong! Once you have some of the pieces together, you get an idea of how the assembly will go. The parts themselves all seem like a very durable steel. The build quality seems good and once installed, this makes an excellent companion for the dumbbells. The stand weighs about 55 pounds without the dumbells and stays rigid when the dumbells are installed. You may use the plastic wheels for a moving stand or choose adjusable stationary casters. The plastic wheels feel cheap and have a locking mechanism which will break if you are not careful.

Overall, this appears to be a solid product which is a great place to keep your Selecttech 552 dumbbells. If you can accept the cheap wheels, poor instructions, and the expense ($135+), this is a very good stand.

I admit it, my biggest reason for having concern about buying this stand, was the concern of putting it together. Not that I have trouble in general, putting thing together, but because I had a lot of reviews, not just here, but on a few sports store websites as well, that said the instructions are horrible and that this stand is very hard to put together.

I’m not for sure if they are now putting new instructions in with this stand, or if people just don’t pay attention when putting something together. For anyone concerned about the stand’s assembly, here is what came in the package.

3 different sized bolts, 1 size of flathead bolts/screws, each with the nut attached and 4 stacks of washers that work with any of the bolts.

That is it. What I did, I opened the blister pack of hardware and put each type of bolt together. That took about 1 minute, seeing that you can lay the 3 types of bolts beside each other and tell the difference in the longer ones.

Once I did this, one step uses the biggest bolts, all of them. One step uses the medium sized bolts, all of them and one step uses the smallest bolts, all of them. It is that simple. Even better, the instructions and order of assembly starts with the biggest bolts, then medium, then smallest. There is no way to screw that up since the smaller bolts are not long enough to fit the steps requiring the bigger ones.

The one thing I will note is though the allen key is included, be sure to have a pair of small vice-grips or 7/16 socket/adjustable wrench, to hold the nut in place while tightening the bolt.

The only part I found to be the least bit hard was putting the towel stand in. As we start working against gravity and not having enough hands, on this part. I had no idea there is a towel stand, it is the last step, and requires holding a curved bar under the dumbbell holders, while inserting 4 flat head bolts. Still, after a few times of dropping the bolts, you will get it right.

The stand isn’t exactly like that one pictured. The one pictured has more of satin silver color to it, but this one has more of a matte gray color, darker colored. Not a big deal, as it really works nicely for what it is supposed to do.

Total time of assembly 45 minutes, included removing everything from box. Just follow those directions and you won’t have a bit of problems. One last note, it does include straps to hold the dumbbells down, so if you buy the dumbbells too, don’t worry about cutting the shipping restraints, that look just like the straps in the pictures I’ve seen with the dumbbells on the stand.

    Great product so far.
