My husband mistakenly bought me a small exercise ball for Christmas and I, being a little shy of six feet tall, couldn’t use it. So, I returned it for this set and I couldn’t be happier. The ball itself comes with a really easy to use hand pump and has a nice, sticky finish to it that clings to my hardwood floor like a yoga mat. I was only really looking for a yoga ball, but the theraband and DVDs were great to get with this kit as well.
The DVD is also a wonderful tool to have. The main workout dvd focuses on legs, arms and abs. WHOA does it target your muscles! I was amazed at the amount of muscle isolation and how this seemingly “easy” set of moves really targeted my muscles. It was a great workout- wonderfully shot, nicely explained and just fun to do. I can’t wait to add it to my exercise regimen.

I have been fumbling on my own with the balance balls in the gym and finally decided to buy a guided work out, and I am glad that I did.
Not only have I learned the right kind of exercises for the ball, but I have seen big results, in a small amount of time and with low impact on my joints, which is a huge plus at my height of 6’2″.
The workouts are fun and done at a comfortable pace. Also, the woman in the first dvd, which focuses on your legs, arms, and abs video, is not annoying and it was nice to see that she and the other people in the video struggled with the ball as well
Long story short, I love doing this and I look forward to challenging myself with some new videos.

Various back and hip pains had me looking for a replacement for my Aeron chair. (Can’t believe what I paid for that thing. Talk about effective marketing…) I work at my computer 8 to 10 hrs. a day, five to seven days a week. Extensive research brought me to the exercise ball. Luck (and the good Gaiam name) had me choose this ball. But I got the wrong size at first. Many sites recommend 65 cm for those 5’9″ tall. This is WAY too short. I got 75 cm, and it seems to be the perfect height for me, and for anyone of any height, actually. Otherwise you’re way too low.
My posture improved instantly. It was relatively easy to use, and by the end of the first week I was totally and completely in love. I sit at my computer 12 hrs. a day, 7 days a week. This thing makes me use my abs, legs, and back muscles all day long, but in a way I just don’t notice. “Active exercise” is the term. I’m secretly hoping that my legs, butt, and abs will slowly but surely become tighter and more toned than ever. (Hey, a girl can dream.) And, as many others say here, I am much less tired at the end of the day. This ball is a great product. Buy Gaiam! Everything I’ve gotten from them has been the top of the line.
EDIT
Bonus benefit: Weight loss. It’s now 10 days, and I’ve lost a tiny bit of weight every day while on the ball. Makes sense–my back/thighs/abs are getting a real workout. At first, I was tired after a couple hrs. on it. Now I use it all day before I’m tired. Am confident that as I shape up, the tiredness will disappear. And the disappearing weight is FANTASTIC. I feel so light on my feet!

I love these balls so much that now I use it when I’m sitting in front of the boob tube/PC instead of my couch. so maybe the reason I have to refill it so much is just because I use it every day… but I only weigh about 190 and since this is for people who are over 6′ you’d think it’ll hold the air a little better. I do find that I have to also adjust the ball to keep it from getting oblong but that may just be the nature of all these balls? Whatever, it works and I use it every day.

The product works, the DVD had good music, a sexy instructor, I might add (if I’m looking at the right version, mine had a girl named Tanya), and moves I could keep up with. But the one I got had a ball too big for me, so make sure yours is right; contact Gaiam if you must for sizes.

There’s nothing magical about this piece of equipment- its a big, sturdy rubber ball, and what you see in the picture is exactly what you get. So why would you even want to bother messing with it?
Well, despite its simplicity, its a really FUN piece of exercise equipment and an absolutely GREAT way to change things up. For instance, if you’re tired of doing sit-ups on the floor, well, try them on the ball (you’ll see what I mean when you do). If you’re tired of doing push-ups on the floor, just try them with your feet on the ball- then see how many push-ups you can do!
But be careful and use your judgement. While there’s a lot of stuff you can do with this big ball, you COULD also get hurt if you’re clowning around or trying something you’re simply not in shape to do yet. Know that this ball comes with an exercise sheet that give you suggestions for doing different exercises.
All-in-all, though, its especially nice for a change of pace or for an added challenge. Additionally, many therapists use this ball for rehabilitation purposes, particularly back rehab, so there’s really a lot you can do with it. If nothing else, pull it out after a long day at the office and stretch your back out over it- wow- does that ever feel good! Those who suffer with back pain might also be interested in Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis. Have fun!

The 75cm Valeo Body Ball (“burst resistant” per the box) performed faithfully for seven months until it ruptured yesterday. I am 6’4″, 200# and was prone using two 10# dumbbells when it burst beneath me and dropped me face first on the smooth concrete floor. The tear was nearly fully circumferential around the middle of the ball. Fortunately, I only had a couple of small abrasions. The ball had no previous damage, leak or or other warning sign of weakness or impending failure. It was replaced with a more expensive, stronger ball that is now used with a thick foam exercise mat underneath.

At 5’1″, this stability ball is perfect for my height Although the photo shows the ball to be a silvery color, mine is actually a pearly white, which I prefer. Working out with the ball is fun, so it makes it seem much easier. My abs and arms really felt it the next day.

This was big enough to use as a chair, but I went back to the standard office chair after the novelty wore off. I use this mostly to just bend backwards and chill out. The pump that came with it was easy to use, but I think I read others had problems. Not sure why. It’s a good size (I’m 5′ 8″) and I wouldn’t want a smaller one. How much can you say about a ball? It deflates for storage. Can be rolled out of way for those that don’t want to lift it. If you drop it, it won’t break. Oh well, don’t take my word for it. Read yet another review about a ball to be sure.

I bought this ball mainly to use while sitting at a table while working. It’s an appropriate height to substitute as a chair, and it is indeed 65 cm in diameter, as advertised. It did have a very rubbery odor for about 4 days, but now it’s fine, and I’m pleased that I haven’t had to re-inflate yet after about 3 weeks of use.
